DeKalb City Council Approves $2.9 Million Bid for Lead and Galvanized Water Line Replacement

 DEKALB – The DeKalb City Council on Monday night has approved a $2.9 million bid from Five Star Energy Services, LLC for the replacement of up to 260 lead and galvanized steel water service lines. The project, funded through a loan forgiveness program from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, aims to address the city’s compliance with the Illinois Lead Service Line Replacement Act.  DeKalb City Manager Bill Nicklas said that they have gotten quite a bit done already. The low bid, at $11,303 per service, is below the engineering estimate and will be used to replace the remaining lead and galvanized lines.
