MONROE CENTER – An escort vehicle driver was not injured Monday afternoon after the van they were driving struck an oversize load it was escorting on Interstate 39 near mile marker 112. Monroe Township Fire responded to the crash at about 1:30 p.m., just before the construction zone. The driver declined transport to a hospital. Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire/EMS and the Illinois State Police assisted at the scene. Fire officials said they have responded to several rear end crashes in the area and are reminding drivers to slow down before reaching the construction zone, where traffic can back up quickly.
