Rochelle District 231 Enrollment Holds Steady With Slight Increase

ROCHELLE — Rochelle Elementary District 231 reported a slight increase in student enrollment this fall, with 1,435 students from kindergarten through eighth grade, five more than last year. Superintendent Jason Harper said Tuesday night that kindergarten enrollment reached 160 students, with 56 percent enrolled in the dual language program. Class sizes remain balanced overall, though fourth grade continues to have a higher student-to-staff ratio. Harper said the district is monitoring that level closely and expects stable numbers heading into next year as staff begin forecasting future kindergarten enrollment.
