Whiteside Co Tosses Out Jury Slate Due to Issues With Juror Selection

ROCK FALLS –  A Whiteside County jury is giving a verdict in the first trial since the county’s jury selection was overhauled.  Michael Cover was acquitted on Monday after a four-day trial of aggravated battery to a peace officer.  He was found guilty of a lesser misdemeanor charge.  Cover’s case spurred months of court hearings after his defense attorney discovered decades of unconstitutional jury selection practices in Whiteside County.
