Two Dead After Truck And Horse Trailer Crash On I-39 Near Steward

STEWARD – Two people were killed Saturday when a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer struck a tree off I-39 near Steward. Illinois State Police say the crash happened around 12:37 p.m. at milepost 92. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Batavia, and a 47-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital with injuries. A 32-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy in the back seat were pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the horses is unknown, and the crash remains under investigation.
