Duckworth Meets With Illinois Corn Growers Over Rising Costs

OGLESBY — U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth met with Illinois Corn Board members in Oglesby to discuss rising costs facing farmers and the agriculture industry. Duckworth and corn growers discussed expanding the biofuels market, increasing agricultural exports and improving farm safety net programs as farmers face higher costs for diesel, fertilizer and other supplies. Duckworth has supported efforts to expand the use of ethanol blends, including E15, and has worked on legislation to increase the production of biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel. She also has advocated for Illinois agriculture in international markets and helped secure commitments involving U.S. agricultural products. Duckworth said Illinois farmers play an important role in the state and national economy and that supporting them requires stronger markets at home and abroad. The meeting was held during the Illinois Corn August Board Meeting.
