OREGON — The Lady Byron Tigers finished second at the Class 1A Silver Ridge Regional on Tuesday, led by Alayna Brandt’s runner-up performance with a round of 77, one stroke behind champion Ella Pieschel of Rockford Lutheran. Gwen Brandt placed third with an 81, while teammates Adalyn Waldschmidt, Lauren Muzzarelli and Lillian Nogaj all cracked the top 25. Byron advances its full lineup of A. Brandt, G. Brandt, Waldschmidt, Muzzarelli, Nogaj and Brenna Hubbard to Monday’s Sectional at Forest Hills Country Club in Rockford.
Rockford Lutheran won the team title with a 338, topping Byron by 31 strokes, while Oregon took third at 399 to also qualify. Keith Country Day’s Josie Epperson, Rockford Christian’s Madilyn Nelson and Sophia Rosado, Pecatonica’s Kate Howard and Paige Teague, Winnebago’s Claire Smith and Joleigh Williams, North Boone’s Danielle Dittbenner and Rochelle’s Abigail Smith also advanced individually.
In Class 2A at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See in Rockford, Boylan’s Demi Hampilos claimed medalist honors with a 74, while Hononegah’s Alicia Wallin tied for second to help the Lady Indians edge Boylan by a stroke for the final team berth. Crystal Lake Central Co-op captured the team title, and Guilford’s Rory Sweet and Harlem’s Bella Luetke also moved on individually.
At the Eastland Regional, Dixon won the 1A team crown with a score of 391, led by Reese Dambman’s 85 and Rachel Drew’s third-place 92. Eastland-Pearl City was second at 403, River Ridge third at 414. Polo’s Elsa Monaco, Morrison’s Sarah Metzell, E-P’s Isabella Johnston, and Eastland’s Jaden Brower were among the top individuals.
Oregon also secured advancement at its home 1A Regional with a 399, led by Aniyah Sarver’s seventh-place 87 and Sarah Eckardt’s ninth-place 95.
