CHICAGO — Last month, Governor JB Pritzker joined 11 other governors to launch the PJM Governors’ Collaborative, a group created to give states a stronger voice in decisions by PJM Interconnection, the power grid operator for Northern Illinois. The collaborative will focus on electricity costs, grid reliability, and transmission projects while coordinating with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, state utility commissions, legislatures, and other stakeholders. Illinois and the other states want PJM to prioritize affordable, reliable energy and provide support for reviewing proposals that affect consumers and businesses. The effort follows Pritzker’s ongoing work with other governors to reform PJM governance, lower electricity prices, and improve the region’s grid reliability.
