Chicago Man in Custody After Barricading Himself in Mendota Home

MENDOTA – A Chicago man is in custody facing Domestic Battery charges after barricading himself in a home in Mendota Tuesday morning.  The Mendota Police Department say 32-year-old Shaquille O’Neal Jones was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery – Strangulation, a Class 2 Felony, after an individual went to the police station around 9:20 AM to file a complaint.

She was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Law enforcement went to a residence in the 1100 block of 5th Street, where they made contact with Jones, who then allegedly refused to exit the home. Negotiators and multiple agencies, including LaSalle County’s tactical team, responded. Jones later surrendered without injury around 1 p.m.  He will be transported to the LaSalle County Jail.
