SPRINGFIELD — Farmers and agriculture haulers can now apply for a free Illinois Harvest Permit that allows trucks to exceed legal weight limits by up to 10 percent during harvest season through December 31. The permit, available on the Illinois Department of Transportation’s website, applies to state routes only and requires updated route authorizations every 14 days. It does not cover interstates or local roads unless waived by local jurisdictions.
