CRESTON – The Creston Village Board of Trustees welcomed Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies Kyle White and Ali VanVickle and their K9 partners, Gator and Saint, at Tuesday night’s meeting, where the deputies thanked the board for supporting the county’s K9 program.
“We are a non-for-profit, so we only accept donations and fundraise. We don’t accept anything from the county,” said VanVickle.
“We do community policing, probably two to three times at a minimum a week,” said White.
The deputies also promoted the Bark and Whine Ball, a fundraiser for the Ogle County K9 Fund, set for Nov. 1 from 5 to 10 p.m. at River’s Edge Experience in Oregon, featuring dinner, live music, a silent auction and raffle. Tickets are $40 and available at the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Merlin’s and Cork & Tap, with proceeds helping cover training, food, veterinary costs and a soon to be deployed third K9 unit.
