SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office reported multiple cases of residents receiving scam phone calls from individuals posing as deputies and demanding payment for warrants or court issues through Bitcoin ATMs. Authorities said the Sheriff’s Office does not request money over the phone through cryptocurrency, gift cards, or similar methods, and urged anyone receiving such calls to hang up and contact the office. The scam is part of a wider scheme reported across the country.
