Illinois Youth in Custody Earn Career Certifications

CHICAGO – Youth in Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice custody earned certifications in solar installation, personal training, construction, shipping and receiving, and culinary arts through programs with community partners. Classes in public speaking, music and podcast production, audio engineering, and constitutional law also offered skill-building opportunities. Programs at facilities including IYC Harrisburg, IYC Chicago, IYC Warrenville, and the PEACE Center in St. Charles partnered with local businesses and organizations to prepare youth for careers and success after reentering the community.
