Hillcrest Awaits IEPA Approval for Water Main Project, Eyes Sewer Grant

HILLCREST — Hillcrest Village officials are awaiting final approval from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency on the Priority 1A water main project, with funding expected to cover engineering and oversight costs over a 30-year loan term. The project’s final documents were submitted August 8th.  Kaitlin Wright with the consulting firm Baxter and Woodman also discussed last week the idea of building a fabric-covered salt shed on an existing concrete slab. Officials are also eyeing a potential $5 million unsewered community grant expected to be made available this fall, which could fund sewer installation in the southern part of town, following topography to tie into Rochelle’s system and possibly coordinating with future road resurfacing.
