Wise and Well Senior Summit Set for August 21st in DeKalb

DEKALB — DeKalb Township will host its first Wise and Well Senior Summit on August 21st at Faranda’s Banquet Center, offering a day of presentations and resources for older adults. The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with multiple topic-based sessions in four conference rooms, covering issues important to seniors. 

Kimberly Barrios, Community Relations & Events Coordinator with DeKalb Township, said individuals face unique barriers in society as they get older..

“Some of those challenges can lead to isolation or anxiety, depression, so the aim of this event is really to just come alongside seniors in the community, provide them with resources, but also with important connections to organizations within our community that want to come alongside them.”

Attendees may come and go throughout the day, with free parking available in the city lot across the street. The Illinois Tollway will provide on-site customer service and assistance with its I-PASS Assist program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Complimentary coffee and water will be available, and the Lincoln Inn Restaurant will be open for meals.
