District 231 Reports Progress on School Building Improvements

ROCHELLE – District 231 officials provided updates on ongoing construction and renovation projects at May School, Tilton School, and Rochelle Middle School. May School’s preschool classrooms were upgraded with new technology, security enhancements, and a new staff parking area, while new playground equipment is expected to be installed by mid-September. Tilton School’s two-year renovation is progressing with masonry work nearly finished and concrete pours planned for mid-September. The exterior is expected to be sealed before winter to allow interior work to continue. Asbestos removal and interior upgrades including new flooring, LED lighting, drop ceilings, and a new water line installation have been completed. Rochelle Middle School replaced gym doors, upgraded air conditioning units, delayed girls’ locker room renovations due to late deliveries, ordered new cafeteria blinds, and repaved the east parking lot.
