Illinois Launches PSAs for Veteran Suicide Prevention

SPRINGFIELD  — The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs is marking National Suicide Prevention Month with two new public service announcements promoting resources for veterans in crisis. The PSAs share information on the free, confidential help through the Veterans Crisis Line, which can be reached by calling 988 and pressing 1, texting 838255, or chatting online. Officials noted that the suicide rate among veterans is significantly higher than for non-veteran adults and encouraged early access to support services to help save lives.
