The Cubs remain 5 games back in the NL Central Division behind Milwaukee.
The Brewers won their 8th straight game Saturday night over the Mets by the final score of 7-4.
Milwaukee has won 10 out of their last 11 games.
Andre Pallante took the loss for the Cardinals.
The rubber game in the series will be played Sunday night in St. Louis.
