Horicon Masonic Lodge to Mark 100 Years With Rededication Ceremony

ROCHELLE  — Horicon Masonic Lodge No. 244, AF&AM, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its historic building Saturday with a rededication ceremony at 1 p.m. at 500 Lincoln Highway. The Grand Lodge of Illinois will lead the event, which is open to the public, and will include a history presentation about the lodge, founded in 1857 and housed in its current location since 1925.

Secretary Jay Byrd said plenty of work went into the building to get it ready for this event.

“ We have repaired the front steps that were in bad disrepair with water coming in,” he said. “We replaced the sidewalk on the south entrance because there was a trip hazard. We’re going through now and just doing a very deep cleaning and putting fixtures up and just trying to, trying to showcase the building.”

The lodge currently has 135 members
