SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Conservation Foundation, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, has established a new endowment to provide long-term funding for the protection, preservation, and improvement of Illinois state parks. The Illinois State Parks Endowment will support infrastructure upgrades, conservation work, accessibility improvements, and public programming. The fund is permanently restricted and cannot be redirected, ensuring support for state parks across generations. This effort follows national concerns over declining funding for public lands and reinforces Illinois’ commitment to keeping parks free and accessible.
