CHICAGO – National Immunization Awareness Month, observed every August, highlights the importance of staying current with recommended vaccines to protect individuals and communities from preventable diseases. Organized by the National Public Health Information Coalition with support from the CDC and other health partners, the campaign encourages vaccination for all age groups, from infants to older adults. Weekly themes focus on specific populations, such as teens or pregnant women, and partners share educational materials, media content, and event ideas to support outreach efforts. The observance also works to counter vaccine hesitancy by sharing accurate information and promoting the benefits of immunization, which include disease prevention, lower healthcare costs, and stronger public health outcomes.
