Two Hurt in Two-Vehicle Crash Near Byron

BYRON – Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Wednesday around 11 a.m. to a two-vehicle crash with injuries in the 11000 block of North Illinois Route 2 near Byron. Investigators said a pickup driven by a 59-year-old Oregon man was allegedly turning left into a field entrance when it failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by a southbound passenger vehicle. The passenger in the car and the Oregon man were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the car’s driver was uninjured. The Oregon man was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and making an improper left turn. Deputies were assisted by Byron Fire/EMS, Byron Police Department and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
