Worker Rescued After Injury at Former Hilander Site in Rockford

ROCKFORD — A worker was seriously hurt Monday afternoon while clearing debris at the former Hilander site in Brynwood Square. Fire crews say he was impaled and pinned by metal inside his equipment. A technical rescue took about 45 minutes, and the man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The site is set to become a VASA Fitness. The incident is under investigation.
