Jake Irvin allowed two runs over five innings to get the win and Clayton Beeter recorded his first save. The Nats are 2-and-1 to begin the season.
Alex Bregman hit a pair of solo homers for Chicago, while Ian Happ added one of his own. Shota Imanaga surrendered four runs over five innings to get the loss. The Cubs are 1-and-2.
Chicago plays at Wrigley Field Monday night against the LA Angels.
