Today is Illinois Speed Awareness Day

CHICAGO – Today is Illinois Speed Awareness Day, a statewide effort to reduce speeding-related crashes through public education and increased traffic enforcement. Founded in 2016 by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the event brings together law enforcement and community partners to address the dangers of speeding, which reduces driver reaction time, increases stopping distance, and raises the risk of serious or fatal injury. The campaign combines outreach efforts with high-visibility patrols across Illinois roadways.
