Sycamore Swears In Interim Fire Chief Mike Thomas

SYCAMORE — The City of Sycamore has sworn in Mike Thomas as interim fire chief on Tuesday. Thomas previously served as fire chief in DeKalb and brings decades of experience in the fire service. City officials said he will lead the department during a transition period while the city continues its public safety operations. Officials said his background in leadership and emergency services will help guide the department as it continues serving the community. The move follows the as yet to be explained departure of Fire Chief Bart Gilmore, whose career at Sycamore began in 2022, and who was chief from June of 2023 until this month.
