SYCAMORE – Sycamore fire crews extinguished a garage fire Friday evening at a home on Parkside Drive. Crews were called around 5:30 p.m. to a residence near High Street and Kishwaukee Drive and found heavy fire coming from the attached garage of a single story home at 319 Parkside Drive. The fire was under control in about 60 minutes and no injuries were reported to firefighters or occupants. Damage is estimated at $250,000 to the structure and $100,000 to contents and two vehicles near the garage. The incident was upgraded to a general alarm with assistance from multiple area fire departments. The cause remains under investigation and is believed to be accidental, possibly related to welding done earlier in the day.
