Sycamore Approves $2.97 Million Pump Station Upgrade

SYCAMORE — The Sycamore City Council approved contracts totaling $2,968,220 for upgrades to the city’s Influent Pump Station on North Cross Street, including a $2,678,000 construction contract with Stenstrom Construction of Rockford and a $290,220 contract with Baxter and Woodman for construction engineering services. The work will replace the hydraulic bar screen, fine screen, slide gates and actuators, membrane roof, influent sampler, HVAC system, and diesel generator at the station, which handles about three million gallons of wastewater per day. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, and the city manager can approve change orders up to five percent of the construction contract. The engineering contract provides more than 1,800 hours of professional support on a time-and-material basis.
