Study: Tanning Beds Could Triple Melanoma Risk

CHICAGO —  A recent study says that using tanning beds can increase the risk of developing cancer.  The research out of Northwestern University is the first of its kind and found that using tanning beds tripled the risk of melanoma.  The Skin Cancer Foundation says one in five Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70.  More than two people die of skin cancer in the U.S. every hour.  Researchers encourage people who tan often to get checked by a dermatologist.
