Spring Brings Rise in Gas Prices Across Illinois

CHICAGO — As Spring Break continues, gas prices are rising across Illinois. The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased to $3.15, up 3 cents from last week. Local prices are higher in some areas, with Ogle County at $3.21, Lee County at $3.22, and DeKalb County at $3.42. Despite the increase, prices remain about 40 cents lower than this time last year, mainly due to weak crude oil prices and reduced gasoline demand. The national average for gas is also up 3 cents from a week ago but remains significantly lower than last year.
