Solar Array Completed at Mendota Kingspan Manufacturing Facility

MENDOTA — An 881 kilowatt rooftop solar array has been completed at a Kingspan Insulation North America manufacturing facility in Mendota, part of an effort to expand renewable energy use and reduce emissions. The project covers about 50,000 square feet of rooftop space and is expected to generate about 1 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year while offsetting an estimated 870 metric tons of carbon dioxide. REC Solar will own and operate the system under a 25 year power purchase agreement, with Dynamic Energy serving as developer and construction firm. The installation marks Kingspan’s third solar project in North America and supports its goal of adding solar systems at all wholly owned sites and reaching 60 percent direct renewable energy use by 2030.
