ROCHELLE — Fire crews from several districts around Rochelle responded to a fire at an agricultural facility Tuesday morning, sending seven people to hospitals as a precaution for smoke inhalation. The fire was reported at 9:48 a.m. at a business in the 900 block of South Moore Road, where a large canvas hoop building used for fertilizer storage was smoldering. Capt. John Rimstidt of the Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Protection District said firefighters used a light mist of water on burning ag use sulfur and removed material with heavy equipment. The building suffered minor damage. Crews from multiple fire districts and EMS agencies assisted at the scene. The fire was under control by 11:40 a.m. The cause is still under investigation and no other injuries were reported.
