SCOTUS Pauses Lower Court Order on SNAP Funding

(Washington, DC) — A Supreme Court justice is temporarily pausing a lower court’s order that would make the administration pay full SNAP benefits for November. In Friday night’s order, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said she was issuing the pause to give the appeals court more time to consider the case. Earlier Friday, the White House had asked the Supreme Court to block the lower court’s order. That request came after the USDA announced it would comply with the federal court order to fully fund the food stamp program. At least nine states have already started issuing the SNAP funds.
