SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about scam phone calls from someone claiming to be a Sgt. Williams and instructing residents to meet at the Sheriff’s Office with gift cards regarding jury selection. Authorities say there is no Sgt. Williams with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the agency does not handle jury selection matters. Residents who receive these calls are advised not to provide any personal or financial information, to hang up immediately, and to block the number. The Sheriff’s Office says law enforcement will never contact someone by phone to resolve an issue while requesting gift cards or other financial information.
