Rochelle Approves Purchase of Property at 313 W. 5th Avenue

ROCHELLE — The City of Rochelle has approved a resolution to purchase property at 313 W. 5th Avenue and an adjacent vacant lot in downtown Rochelle. The parcels were acquired for $110,000 to support downtown development and improvement, adjacent to property the city already owns. Rochelle City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh said that this is being done to help give the firefighters a place to park.

“We did remove 12 to 15 stalls that our firefighters park at during the day on their shift where the bandshell and the event area is gonna go. So the mayor and council wanted to make sure that they had a good place to park. So that’s why we purchased those two homes,” he said.

The purchase is funded through the Downtown & Southern Gateway TIF and advances the city’s strategic plan goals for downtown growth and revitalization.
