POLO — The Polo City Council agreed Monday to transfer the former Congress School property to the Polo Economic Development Corporation, with an ordinance to be drafted to complete the process. The school, built in 1899 and closed in the mid-1980s, fell into disrepair and was purchased by the city in 2023 for $17,500. Polo previously spent about $67,000 to remove asbestos from the building, which was later demolished due to safety concerns and liability risks from trespassers.
