Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Illinois Route 2

GRAND DETOUR — A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday evening in the 7000 block of South Illinois Route 2 north of Grand Detour. Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies said a southbound vehicle reportedly hit a person who was in the roadway around 6 PM. The victim was taken by Dixon Rural EMS to OSF St. Katharines Medical Center in Dixon with serious injuries and later succumbed to their injuries. The road was closed during the investigation and the victim’s identity has not been released pending family notification. No citations were issued.
