ROCHELLE — The Flagg Rochelle Park District Board approved the purchase of a new shelter for VFW Park during its meeting Monday night. The 16 by 24 hip roof shelter from Play Design Scapes will cost $25,865.50 and will replace the current structure, which officials say has reached the end of its useful life and will be torn down this winter. The new shelter will be installed by park district staff and will include overhead lighting and four electrical outlets. Its location will be adjusted slightly but remain near existing water and electrical access and closer to the playground, with possible plans to move the electric box underground for added safety.
