Overtime Loss For Illinois State In FCS Championship Game

(Nashville, TN) — Montana State won its first national championship since 1984 with a 35-34 overtime win over Illinois State in Nashville. Justin Lamson was named Most Outstanding Player after he threw for 280 yards and accounted for four touchdowns to lead the Bobcats to victory. His top target was Taco Dowler, who hauled in eight passes for 111 yards and the game-winning score.
MSU blocked two kicks, a potential game-winning field goal in regulation and an extra point in the overtime to secure the win.
On the other side, Tommy Rittenhouse threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns for the Redbirds.
