NORMAL — Oregon Elementary School teacher Courtney Gaulrapp of Oregon has been selected as the Northwest Regional Teacher of the Year as part of the 2026 Illinois Teacher of the Year Cohort, a group of 14 educators recognized statewide by the Illinois State Board of Education. Gaulrapp represents Oregon Community Unit School District 220 and was honored during a reception this past weekend in Normal alongside other top educators from across Illinois. The cohort includes teachers from a range of subjects and regions who were chosen from nominees in the Those Who Excel and Teacher of the Year Awards program. One member of the group will be named the 2026 Illinois Teacher of the Year later this spring and will serve as an ambassador for educators across the state. All members of the cohort will be recognized at an awards banquet scheduled for April 18 in Bloomington Normal.
