OREGON – The City of Oregon is preparing for this year’s terrace tree planting program, offering residents the chance to have trees planted at a reduced cost. Typically, the program covers 50% of the planting cost up to $100, but for the first 10 applicants, the city will cover 80% of the cost, up to $160. Oregon City Manager Darin DeHaan said this follows a 2021 tree inventory that identified 500 empty spaces for planting.
“We’re really going to try to push tree planting this year. We know that’s one of our nice identities is these tree-lined streets,” he said. “They help cool homes, they help hold soil, there’s just so many good reasons to plant trees.”
The city of Oregon will be encouraging residents to participate and help care for the trees.
