Oregon Council Discusses Future Use of Sarah Phelps Plaza

OREGON — Oregon City Council members last week discussed potential uses for Sarah Phelps Plaza, currently hosting events such as the Farmers Market and AOP. City Manager Darin DeHaan said an individual expressed interest in using the space for a drive-through coffee shop, but Mayor Ken Williams said he is hesitant because the property was purchased through a public-private partnership with local banks. Council members said more time is needed to develop the plaza’s potential and suggested allowing local groups to use it for fundraising and community events.
