OREGON – The Oregon City Council approved participation in the Illinois Home Repair and Accessibility Planning Program to help identify housing needs and qualify for potential grant funding. The council also postponed a rezoning request for 708 W. Washington Street until February 24 and approved a $1,200 expenditure for the removal of a cistern at 131 S. Third Street. Council members said the Home Repair Program will involve volunteers working with the Illinois Housing Development Authority to assess homes needing repair or accessibility improvements. The cistern removal was part of additional remediation identified during a recent demolition project.
