ROCHELLE – One person is dead and another is in critical condition after what authorities say appears to be an attempted murder-suicide in Rochelle. The Rochelle Police were called by neighbors in an apartment building in the 100 block of West McConaughy Ave around 6:40 am Monday morning. According to Rochelle Police Chief Pete Pavia, officers discovered a 29-year-old male subject deceased with what he described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 27-year-old woman at the same location was found unconscious but breathing, and was taken to Rochelle Community Hospital and then flown to a Rockford hospital where she currently is in critical condition. The matter is still under investigation by the Rochelle Police Department, Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit. More information, including the identities of those involved is expected to be released in the coming days.
