Ogle County Honors Clerk Laura J. Cook And Appoints Successor

OREGON – The Ogle County Board approved a resolution Tuesday honoring outgoing County Clerk and Recorder Laura J. Cook. The board declared Friday, Dec. 19, as Laura J. Cook Day in Ogle County. Cook retires Friday after 27 and a half years of public service.

Cook had helpful advice for her successor.

“ I would just say she just has to listen to what the state legislator wants, because they’re the ones that are changing things for elections and have been for a long time,” she said.

She has served as county clerk since March 2016. The board also appointed Rebecca K. Duke as the next Ogle County Clerk.

Cook said she believes she had a positive impact on Ogle County.

“ I’m most proud of the fact we’ve improved some efficiency with financial reporting in the office.”
