Ogle County Enforcement Report for April’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office announced numbers for April’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign. A total of 270 citations were issued by Sheriff’s Deputies during the month. These citations included:

  • 22 Citations for DUI and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol
  • 4 Citations for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol as a Minor
  • 2 Citations for Cannabis Violations
  • 24 Citations for Suspended, Revoked or No Valid Driver’s Licenses
  • 111 Citations for Speed Related Offenses
  • 32 Citations for No Insurance
  • 44 Citations for Registration Violations
  • 3 Citations and 5 warnings for cell phone violations
  • 30 Citations for Other Offenses

Sheriff Brian VanVickle said they strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason – to save lives.  He added that the increased enforcement was implemented to help motorists avoid the often-deadly consequences of distracted driving with a simple reminder: Put the Phone Away or Pay.

TheSheriff’s Office joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort.

The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
