DEKALB — The Ogle County Board recognized former member Susie Corbitt for her service after she resigned last month. Corbitt, first elected in 2018, served on multiple committees including Personnel and Salary, Human Resources, and the State’s Attorney Court Services, FOCUS House, Judiciary & Circuit Clerk, and Public Defender Committee. She held leadership roles as committee chair and vice-chair.
Susie Corbitt said Tuesday night she is proud of what she has accomplished in office.
“I’ve been representing the citizens and being open-minded and listening to their requests,” she said, “and trying to vote accordingly.”
Corbitt served seven years on the county board and previously served as city clerk for the city of Polo for 24 years, totaling 31 years of public service.
The Ogle County Board District 8 seat was filled Tuesday night with the appointment of Polo native Megan Poole, who felt a sense of duty to jump into government.
“Really just the opportunity to give back to my community. I grew up here, I’ve loved this area my whole life, and I want to help it prosper and be the best I can,” she said.
The resolution acknowledged Corbitt’s dedication, integrity, and contributions to county governance.
