DEKALB — Lisa Freeman announced Thursday she will retire at the end of her contract with Northern Illinois University. The Board of Trustees approved a contract extension through June 30, 2028. Officials said the early notice will allow for succession planning and continuity. The board cited her leadership and commitment to the university’s mission and students as reasons for the extension.
