ROCHELLE - A famed Union Pacific locomotive will be paying another visit to Rochelle. Big Boy No. 4014 will arrive at the Rochelle Railroad Park on Sunday, September 8th. The 1.2 million pound train engine last visited the area in 2019. The locomotive, built in 1941, returned to service in 2019 and will be embarking on the "Heartland of America Tour", leaving Cheyenne, Wyoming on August 29th, visiting nine states over eight weeks. Just 25 Big Boys were built for Union Pacific. Each was over 130 feet long and designed for the tough routes through the Rocky Mountains.
