Monroe Center Man Sentenced to Prison for Identity Theft

OREGON – An Ogle County judge sentenced a 46-year-old Monroe Center man to prison Friday after he pleaded guilty to identity theft and aggravated fleeing. Wayne Mikulski received concurrent terms of seven years and six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The charges stem from a March 2025 incident where an Ogle County Sheriff’s deputy pursued a van linked to local mail thefts. Mikulski fled the vehicle on foot but was later identified by investigators. A search of his home uncovered stolen mail, checks, and debit cards belonging to residents in Ogle, Winnebago, and Cook counties.
